CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Two men were arrested by the Wyoming Highway Patrol over the weekend after a routine pullover led to the discovery of nearly 97 pounds of marijuana and THC product in the suspect vehicle.
According to paperwork filed in Laramie County Circuit Court, Derek Moore, age 36, and Jeremy Taylor, age 40, were placed into custody during the evening hours of October 17th, 2020.
The arresting WHP trooper says that they observed a Dodge Caravan with Nevada registration traveling in excess of the posted speed limit at mile post on I-80.

The trooper says that he identified Moore of Indiana as the driver and Taylor of Oregon as the passenger when he made contact with the suspects during the traffic stop.
“Both occupants appeared visibly nervous as their hands shook while they handed me documents,” the trooper stated in the affidavit of probable cause.
The trooper went on to say that they observed numerous large bags in the rear cargo area of the vehicle as well as other luggage on the second row of seats.
“I believed there was far too much luggage for the trip,” the trooper stated. I know bulk marijuana to be transported and concealed in similar bags.
According to the trooper, both suspects continued to demonstrate signs of nervousness and stress during the pullover. Authorities say that both Moore and Taylor gave differing accounts of travel plans and presented information that contradicted the rental car agreement.
“Due to numerous indicators that I knew to be consistent with criminal activity, both suspects were detained,” the Trooper stated in the affidavit.
Law enforcement says that consent to search the vehicle was initially denied by the suspects. A K-9 narcotic sniffing unit alerted authorities to the presence of a controlled substance so a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Both Moore and Taylor made their initial appearances in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday, October 19th, 2020. Both suspects were read recommended felony charges of Conspiracy to Manufacture/Deliver/Possess Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, and Possession of Marijuana.
If convicted on all counts, the two suspects could face up to 25 years in prison and/or fines of up to 30k, according to Wyoming statutes.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
