Some Michigan dispensaries will be receiving a supply of rapper Lil Wayne’s new cannabis line, which launched in stores Friday.
The cannabis line, called GKUA Ultra Premium, will offer various products and strains at select Michigan dispensaries.
GKUA Inc. had a successful launch in California in December, bringing to market some of the highest natural levels of THC available, a news release said. The company felt the need to expand to Michigan because the company feels its values match the community.
“GKUA is Weezy’s Weed. It’s what I love, and now I’m sharing what I love with the people of Michigan,” said Lil Wayne in the news release. “These days everyone could use some help to feel inspired.”
In addition to the launch, rapper and reality TV star Lil Twist, who is on the Young Money Entertainment music label, will travel to dispensaries in metro Detroit to meet fans and host a giveaway. The tour will take place Oct. 10 at House of Dank on 8 Mile in Detroit, Herbology Cannabis Co. in River Rouge and at The Clinic in Center Line.
“We’re really excited,” said the owner of Herbology Cannabis Co. and Herbal Healing Provisioning, who goes by the name TJ. “It’s nice that the industry is at this point that we can have nice celebrity endorsements and products. It’s nice for the overall hype and people are definitely going to love it.”
During the Lil Twist event, Herbology Cannabis Co. will host T-shirt giveaways, cannabis sales and a small meet-and-greet with signed posters. TJ said that the event would be a lot larger if there wasn’t a pandemic.

Lil Wayne’s products were available for online ordering, pickup and delivery from Herbology Cannabis Co. starting Friday.
About 12 other stores in metro Detroit are set to carry GKUA Ultra Premium products, which includes pre-rolls, concentrates, vapes, flower and the GKUA Ultra Premium Battery Technology.
“We are thrilled to expand GKUA Ultra Premium into the Michigan community, ensuring residents have access to the world’s-best cannabis products,” Beau Golob, president and co-founder of GKUA Inc, said in the news release. “Working with Lil Wayne is an honor, and we’ve found success in California through his unique vision of curating a premium line of products that inspires people and feeds their creativity. We’re sure those values will resonate with the residents of Michigan, a state known for its deep love of music and artistry.”
Adult-use recreational cannabis sales started in Michigan in December 2019, and sales have since spiked. In the month of August, the Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency reported adult-use cannabis sales of over $59.1 million. This number is an increase from last month’s sales of $57.4 million.
To find Lil Wayne’s new cannabis line at a local dispensary, customers can search the Weezy Weed Finder on the GKUA Inc. website.
