Wal-Mart has joined other retailers such as Walgreen’s in adopting Tobacco 21 as corporate policy regardless of city or county ordinance or state legislation.

As opposed to Rite-Help or CVS, which have discontinued sales of vapor solutions in the 1st case and all nicotine solutions totally in the second, Wal-Mart will continue to sell tobacco and vapor solutions but only to these 21 years of age and older.

The policy comes in response to a letter received by the retailer from the U.S. Meals &amp Drug Administration. In the letter, FDA warned the enterprise that just after 13,000 compliance checks of its retail places, the enterprise effectively passed only 93 % of them. In response, the retailer wrote:

“While we have implemented a robust compliance plan, we are not happy with falling brief of our enterprise-wide target of 100% compliance. Even a single sale to a minor is a single also numerous, and we take seriously our responsibilities in this regard.”

Wal-Mart is not the only retailer to have fallen afoul of age compliance. Kroger, Walgreen’s, and other people have also come up brief exactly where compliance is concerned. Walgreen’s has also adopted Tobacco 21 as enterprise policy in response to the warning they received on the topic.
